Vancouver, British Columbia - On behalf of the Board of Directors of Polaris Minerals Corporation (TSX: PLS), Dr. Roman Shklanka, Chairman, today announced the appointment of Mr. Colin K. Benner as a Director and the retirement of Mr. R. Stuart (Tookie) Angus.

Mr. Benner is a professional engineer and corporate director with over 40 years of operational and management experience in the Canadian and international resource industries. He is currently Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of both PBS Coals Ltd. and Creston Moly Corp. and most recently was Vice Chairman and CEO of Skye Resources Inc. He also serves on the Board of Lundin Mining Corporation, HudBay Minerals Inc., Sherwood Copper Corp. and Troon Ventures Ltd. Mr. Benner has held senior leadership roles at companies including Lundin Mining Corporation and EuroZinc Mining Corporation.

Dr. Shklanka said, "We are very pleased that Colin has agreed to join the Board of Polaris and we look forward to benefiting from his wealth of public company experience. Mr. Benner will replace Mr. Angus, who after many years of valuable service to Polaris, will be retiring from the Board for personal reasons. Mr. Angus will be retained as a senior adviser to the Company's management. Mr. Benner's appointment to the Board of Polaris is subject to TSX approval.
